Dr. Duane L. Ross is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, with experience in Bariatrics, Occupational Medicine, and Geriatrics. Currently, he serves as a Medical Director for one of New Mexico's major medical insurance providers. He is also very active in community efforts to promote healthy lifestyles. Dr. Ross serves on the Worksite Wellness subgroup of the Healthier Weight Council, the Healthier Weight Workgroup, and on the steering committee for the Safe Routes to School Grant in Corrales, NM. He is also involved in the Prescription Trails Workgroup, a project especially near and dear to his heart. Prescription Trails is building a bridge between the outdoors and the doctor's office by developing a directory of local trails that providers can make available to their patients in the interest of promoting physical activity.
After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in English, Dr. Ross received his Medical Degree from Howard University in Washington, DC. Returning to New York, he completed his Residency and a Fellowship in General Internal Medicine before relocating to New Mexico in 1993. He has worked in Primary Care Practice, Occupational Medicine, as Medical Director of the Program of All-Inclusive Care of the Elderly, and served as a consultant to various medical insurance companies. In all of his positions, Dr. Ross has used nutrition and physical fitness to help both his patients and his colleagues improve their health.
